This specialized mini-course equips VET educators with practical tools, teaching methods, and updated construction-sector knowledge to better support female learners entering the construction industry. It integrates gender-inclusive pedagogy, critical thinking strategies, leadership development, and anti-bias techniques tailored to real classroom and workshop conditions.

Educators will learn how to design inclusive lessons, address unconscious bias, integrate new green construction trends, and strengthen students’ soft skills (communication, problem-solving, negotiation). The course provides ready-to-use classroom strategies, digital tools, and practical exercises for immediate implementation

By the end of this mini-course, educators will:

Gender-Inclusive Teaching

  • Identify and address gender stereotypes in construction VET

Updated Industry Knowledge

  • Understand current construction trends, including sustainability & digitalisation

  • Integrate real-world case studies and labour market needs

Soft Skills & Critical Thinking

  • Facilitate meaningful discussions and problem-solving activities

  • Embed soft-skill training (communication, teamwork, negotiation) in practical sessions

Leadership & Negotiation Skills

  • Use simple tools to help learners build confidence and take initiative

  • Teach negotiation scenarios that women often face in male-dominated environments

Combating Workplace Biases

  • Detect bias in evaluation, group work, and feedback

  • Apply classroom interventions that prevent exclusion and microaggressions

 

Course requirements

Considering the mini-courses developed for students in WR 2, please indicate the methods and technologies that educators can use to achieve one or more of the following aspects:

1. Gender-inclusive teaching methodologies;

2. Updated construction industry knowledge;

3. Core Soft Skills and critical thinking;

4. Leadership development;

5. Negotiation Skills;

6. Combating workplace biases.

Therefore, we suggest that each partner prepare a case study of a mini-course for educator lasting 3-5 hours and recommend a form of reflection and feedback.
